Elton told the crowd that it had been nine years since he last performed in Winnipeg, and that was a solo show. He then added that it wouldn't be another nine years before he came back! The crowd was good on Friday night, and even better on Saturday night, if that is possible. Elton was in a great mood and was basking in the tumultuous applause after each and every song. The band was having a great time as well. Elton was cracking himself up while while introducing the band on Friday night! He introduced Guy as a keyboard genius and wizard who in his spare time drives an ice cream van!

Elton featured a slightly different look, sans the big bow scarf/tie and cross. He was looking good with loads of energy as he pounded out his hits.

Elton dedicated the song Goodbye Yellow Brick Road to Ben & Jerry's in honour of their creation of the Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road ice cream available only in Vermont for a week to benefit the Elton John Aids Foundation. The crowds stood in line waiting their turn to taste the new creation! The crowd greeted Elton enthusiastically, with ages ranging from the very young to the very old. Each and every person who left the Exposition Center after the show was enthralled with the show they just witnessed! Check out some photos on the Vermont photos page. Keeping checking back as there are many more to add!

Elton John's Oscar night bash to support the Elton John Aids Foundation was a big hit and garnered $5.1 million in new funds for the charity! Guy and the rest of the band accompanied Elton in entertaining the 750 guests at the fundraiser, playing hits like Tiny Dancer, Levon, Rocket Man, Philadelphia Freedom, Bennie and the Jets, I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues and Sad Songs.

For some photos of the star-studded party, go to Getty Images and search under Elton John. Here are a couple of photos with a slight view of Guy on keyboards:

As Elton wrapped up his brief solo spin on the northeast end of the US, the band did one show in Savannah, Georgia, which was reported to be a great success! Check out the Savannah photos page for some photos of Guy!

Elton and the band have finished their brief tour in the Middle East, culminating with a great show in Tenerefe in the Canary Islands, Spain. Check out the Tenerife Photos page for some great photos from our friend Anna!

Check out John Mahon's Homey Page web site for some great photos from the recent tour in Africa, UAE and Tenerife, including the photo of Guy hiking. Also lots of great scenic shots.

As everyone knows, Elton likes to have fun on stage, and often improvises on the introductions of his band members. Here is a clip from the show on October 12, 2007, in Moline, Illinois, where Elton introduced Guy as the top beekeeper in Santa Monica! If you have heard a fun or interesting introduction of Guy, drop me a line at the e-mail address at the bottom of the page!

There are a few short video clips available on YouTube - not the best quality, but check them out for yourself.
I'm Still Standing, Tenerife. Decent quality.
Short clip of Crocodile Rock, Tenerife. Good but too short!
Saturday Night Live - Tenerife. Quality isn't too bad, but video is from a distance.
Sorry Seems - Tenerife. Poor video quality, very shaky and there appears to be a chorus of off-key audience members to go along with Elton, but a good shot of Guy on keyboards.
Your Song - Tenerife. Same as Sorry Seems, poor quality.

Click here for a video clip from ITN and another from The Times of Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding with Elton and the band in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Below are some screen shots of Guy in the Chile 1995 concert. Enjoy!

Check out this article in Emirates Business regarding the upcoming show on Jan 22. And check out that short hair on Guy.

Look closely and you can see that Guy has definitely gotten a hair cut in the below photo.

Elton and the band now head to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Hopefully there will be more media and photo coverage. And last stop will be Tennerife in the Canary Islands, Spain.

Here is a screenshot from video of a concert in Boston in 2005, with Guy doing his magic on the keyboards during The Bitch is Back!

Elton and the band are in South Africa now for four concerts, before moving to Dubai and then to Tenerife. Keep checking back for info on the shows! Our friend Anna will be attending the show in Tenerife and will hopefully get some good photos!

Seems the first show in South Africa was a success and featured a similar set list to the US Rocketman Number 1's tour, adding Circle of Life and Sacrifice, and eliminating The Bridge. Check out Wire Image photo service for some photos from the concert.

Since there won't be any new concert photos of the band for the near future, now posted on the Photos page are some screen shots from the 1995 Rio concert, featuring Mr. Guy Babylon on keyboards and vocals. No, you didn't hear wrong, Guy was singing backup vocals, and we have some photos to prove it! Continuing on the trip down memory lane - while watching a dvd of the 1995 show in Rio, it was nostalgic to hear Elton introduce Guy on keyboards and vocals. And to see Guy singing backing vocals, check out this clip from I'm Still Standing. I do miss the shows where Elton would have the band join him at the end of the show to take a bow. And here is a clip of Guy doing the intro to Funeral for a Friend. Enjoy!

Some trivia for you - Guy joined the Elton John Band in July 1988 as a keyboardist. He became the lead keyboardist in 1992, and on Sept. 6, 1993, he began his long stint as the only keyboardist Elton would ever need! That was at the Walden Woods show.

Ever wonder how many shows Elton has done? Since 1970, he has done over 2600 shows. Guy has participated in approximately 1127 of those shows. Guy is the third-longest standing member of Elton's band, after Davey Johnstone and Nigel Olsson.

Dateline Las Vegas - Went to Vegas for the Red Piano shows Oct. 18-20. Elton and the band were in top form! The first night, the couple sitting right in the front row on the far left were older, and sat like lumps on a log the entire night. You could see Elton was looking that way and not happy to see them just slumped in their seats, they never stood up, never really even noticably clapped. Makes you wonder why they even went. During Saturday, the guard told them they could go up on the stage and they said, "do we have to?" Unbelievable. So they left after Saturday, and when Elton came back on for Your Song, when he got to our area, he said into the microphone, "Oh great, Grandpa and Grandma have gone... should have left an hour and a half ago." We thought that was hysterical, although I am not sure if the entire audience knew what he was talking about.

Highlights of the show included the addition of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, with a video that rivals SSMLT for nudity and such. I guess it pretty much depicts the lyrics, set in a drug party of the 70s with cocaine, alcohol, etc. Love the song, though, and it sounded great. Even though GBYBR was added to the set list for the regular shows this fall, it somehow sounded even better in Vegas. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road replaced The Bridge in the set, between SSMLT and Tiny Dancer.

Elton had his usual Celine Dion quips, although when he announced that they fill her slot when she isn't there, he added, "not much chance of me doing that, right!" His intro of the band on Thursday night started by his mentioning that he's had this band for so long he can't remember, and they are not only great musicians but great people. As usual, he introduced Guy as a keyboard genius and wizard. And when introducing Davey he had the usual assortment of odd band names from when Davey played with a folk band. He did add a little quip about how he wanted to add an electrical quitar to the band, as you can only go so far before you break up and then 20 years later reform like the Police! On Thursday, Davey was originally with Big Muff and Little Willy - then EJ added, "I don't know if he was Muff or Willy!" On Friday it was Pawn on the Knob, and on Saturday it was Dick Chippelatta and the Wee Willies. Elton was cracking himself up over that one!

On Saturday, after doing the Celine bit, Elton mentioned that he can't do that with Bette when she starts in 2008 or she will punch him in the face!

The audiences were pretty good, although each night through the weekend the audience improved. One night, some guy yelled out, "I love you Elton!" and Elton said something like, "I'm in room 134." Pretty funny. All in all, it was a great set of shows, with fine performances by all!

Added some more photos to the Moline Photos page. Best show I have seen in a long time, both from the performance to the audience reaction! Below is a photo of Guy from the Moline show.

Elton and the band gave it their all this weekend, starting in Moline, IL, on Friday, October 12, and in Kansas City, MO, on Saturday, October 13. The set list was the same as Sioux Falls, SD, but yet it all seemed fresh and new. Check out the Moline Photos page for some shots from the Friday night show.

Elton was in a playful mood, and when introducing the band, he announced that Guy as the top beekeeper in Santa Monica! As the crowd filed out, there was no mistaking that the crowd was mesmerized and thrilled with the performance.

The Kansas City show was fabulous, although sorry, no photos from that show. Check out this great review in the Kansas City Star, and some photos at Kansas City.com.

The show in Sioux Falls, South Dakota was great! Elton and the band were in great form, although missing John Mahon. Deepest sympathies to John and his family on the passing of his beloved mother. We missed you, John.

Check out the Sioux Falls photos page for some shots of Elton, Guy, Bob, Nigel and Davey. And click here to read a great review posted in the Sioux Falls Argus, including some photos from the show and the set list.

Elton was in a great mood, and the crowd responded back with flourish throughout the night. Elton told the crowd that it has only taken him 38 years to get to South Dakota, but that it had been on his wish list, which drew a roaring applause from the audience. He then confided that his cocker spaniel Arthur comes from South Dakota, and so he brought him to visit his homeland, and said that he travels with Arthur and so he always has a piece of South Dakota with him. Elton broke into a brief version of "Old MacDonald" toward the end of the concert as well.

On June 24 in Denmark, fans were delighted by a great performance by Elton and the band. In keeping with his recent joking while introducing the band, Elton introduced Guy as the President of the National Chihauhua Association in Florida! Not too long ago in Germany, Elton was introducing Guy as the President of the American Tortoise Racing Association, and having the audience sing Happy Birthday to Guy. Good to see Elton and the band are having fun!

Elton and the band, Las Vegas, May 2007

Dateline Las Vegas, Nevada, May 11-13 - Elton and the band were performing the Red Piano show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Elton was in a fabulous mood for all of the shows, interacting with the audience, kicking balloons, posing and just having a great time!

The show was pretty much the same show, he didn't do the Bridge but instead added Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, dedicating it to Ray Charles. There were also some new horns in The Bitch is Back, sounded great! Elton was cracking himself up while he chatted up the audience, and kicking balloons that made their way to the stage. So was Davey... so many of the balloons made their way to the stage. Even Guy had to kick a balloon that was in his way. And a few of the balloons made their way to Elton while he was playing, and he was showing off his tennis skills by batting them around as they hit his back or came up in front of his face! He seemed to really be having fun with it, though!

Elton can still shake it and thrill the crowd during "The Bitch is Back!"

When it came time to introduce the band, Elton said "I am so lucky to have such a great band of musicians ... they are great friends and superb people." Each night, when Elton introduced Nigel he mentioned that Nigel dresses to match his drum kit - he said, "he sort of dresses to blur into his drum kit, and I'm so proud of him for that, the gay Altoid, Nigel Olsson!" On Friday night when he introduced John Mahon, he mentioned something like, "with sore foot." And when he introduced Guy, he called him "our keyboard genius and wizard, and I mean that sincerely." As usual, he had some interesting names for Davey's first band during his introduction, including Tina's Hairy Chihuahua!

Guy was hitting all the notes during Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting!

Elton interacted well with the audience, who were clapping and all, but otherwise pretty tame audiences. A few people here and there standing up, but not much. But he seemed to take it in stride and the entire band seemed to be having a great time. From my seats on the far left, I could view Elton, Guy, Bob and a little of Nigel. They were all having a blast, and Bob often had a huge smile across his face. It looked like he was really having fun! Here are a couple of short video clips sent by another Elton fan, Guy's solo during I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues and a short clip from Pinball Wizard.

While at Caesars I paid a visit to the Elton John Store, and there were a few new items in the shop, including mint tins with the Red Piano on the cover, money clips that say Elton John on a keyboard, some new hats and t-shirts, and some new sunglasses. I bought the red ones! And a new keychain, it is like a charm bracelet with little charms of items related to Elton and the Red Piano, such as the Colosseum, a top hat, a red piano, glasses, and a heart. And they had some cool socks that say Elton John at the top and lots of music notes!

New socks and charm bracelet keychain from the Elton John Store at Caesars Palace

If you haven't seen Elton and the band at the Red Piano, you have to make sure to go, it's quite the entertaining show! The set list was Bennie and the Jets, Philadelphia Freedom, Believe, Daniel, Rocketman, I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues, Someone Saved My Life Tonight, Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word, Tiny Dancer, band intros, Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me, Candle in the Wind, Pinball Wizard, The Bitch is Back, I'm Still Standing, Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, and Your Song.
